One of my proudest moments as an equestrian was when I was competing in my very last horse show with my heart horse, Misty. It was my last show because she was getting sold and I was going off to college. Long story short, we entered in an eventing show; we had a phenomenal dressage test, and a clear show jumping round, but I decided to retire from cross country mid course. Why? Because I could feel that she wasn’t enjoying it and it made my job as a rider increasingly difficult. So instead of forcing her over a solid jump where she could get us both hurt, i decided to retire.
